Autumn Colours...
13 to 16 Months in advance
(Friday, Jun. 20, 2008, 12:01 pm)
I really need to buy a SuperGold Account on this thing. So I can at least post the pictures and ideas I have for this wedding.

I can't believe that women sit and plan this thing from when they're like 4 years old.

I never even KNEW there was a "Save-The-Date" card. According to Real Simple magazine, these are to be sent 13-16 months before the wedding. This just lets your friends know a year before that you are getting married, and want for them to plan well in advance to attend. On the bottom, you write "wedding invitations to follow". Wedding invitations aren't to be sent until no more than 2 months before the wedding. I mean...there is this huge time-line that I didn't even know existed.

I'm actually going to plan this according to the time line they have in Real Simiple magazine. They have things spread out far enough that you only do a few very small things every month, so it's not overwhelming. What's the thing I'm supposed to be doing 13-16 months in advance (ie right now)....

Trying to find a location. Which is, by far, very difficult. We've changed our mind from December, back to October or November. Both of us LOVE the fall season, and we think it will go better with what we invision....except that it'll be difficult to incorporate the color blue (which we both kind of wanted). No biggie. A Fall wedding seems a little better.

So location....ah, well I'll save that for another entry. I have a TON of research to do, because I honeslty don't want to marry anywhere CL.OSE to DC. Why? Because I don't want ppl to come here specifically for our wedding only to do "oh, we've never been to dc before so we are going to go see the monuments/the white house/the smithsonian, etc etc". Trust me....I'm not even that damn egotistical to demand ppl come spend the special day with just us. It's not even that big of a deal, to me anyway.

So - more than likely it's going to be a destination wedding. Forget it, I might as well say it.

I was thinking we could get married while on a cruise. I know it sounds odd...but have you EVER heard of anyone getting married on a cruise (its been done, I've checked). One, you get an incredibly well packaged inexpensive deal for doing a wedding that way (and we don't have money growing off of trees). You're entertainment, food, plates, hall/ballrom, etc is kind-of an all inclusive deal. Two, not only would we be on the water for the ceremony, but all of our guests would have a HUGE list of things to do, not only on the boat but when we dock at ports or whatever. We'd almost have to provide no entertainment, everything will be at our disposal, and we'd be already travelling as is.

Both of us are leaning on this....when I told him the idea, he thought it was neat. He thinks his friends are too cheap and he'd have no groomsman. But here's how I see it. We send out these "save-the-date" thingies, along with an where we plan on doing this. And we send with prices, etc. The very little I looked....for a 5 day cruise for a family of 4 with a full room with a window....like $950. So, he's trying to tell me that you can't save $950 in well over a years time???

Did I mention that this price includes all the liquor, port taxes, and meals? I don't think that's that bad. Plus...the majority of his friends have never even LEFT the east-coast. So this would be something new and fun. (And for me...keeps the guest list down, b/c I honestly don't want a huge thing).

Dresses are also difficult. Like 95% of all dresses now are sleeveless/strapless. ALL.OF.THEM! So I found this really nice off the shoulder dress (in a magazine) that I loved. His response was "wow, it sure is plain". ::sigh::

Why can't we just do justice of the peace???

I've gotta go for work. Later kiddies.
